To be USDA Certified Organic, it’s not enough to simply buy, roast, blend and package coffee produced by farmers who use renewable resources and pay strict attention to conservation of water and soil. Organic coffee is produced free of most conventional pesticides, bioengineering or radiation. After harvest, certified organic handling standards must be adhered to throughout the supply chain from plantation to roasting plant. And the roaster must also be a certified organic processor using committed organic production lines.
NSF International, The Public Health and Safety Company™, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, is the world leader in standards development, product certification, education, and risk-management for public health and safety. While focusing on food, water, indoor air, and the environment, NSF develops national standards, provides learning opportunities, and provides third-party conformity assessment services while representing the interests of all stakeholders. The primary stakeholder groups include industry, the regulatory community, and the public at large.
FreshBrew coffees are produced in NSF-certified facilities. This means that our roasting and packaging plant is NSF-inspected and audited, and meets the highest standards of the independent world leader in standards development, product certification, education and risk management. FreshBrew consistently meets and exceeds our customer-mandated quality as well as Global Food Safety standards and practices. Quality control samples are retained from each batch with daily cuppings, not only for NSF but for assurance of consistency with each client’s specific coffee formulation and profile.
